The “Ten Million Patents” ceremony was a big deal – Secretary of Commerce Wilbur L. Ross and Under Secretary and Director of the USPTO Andrei Iancu took the inventor of to the White House for the President to sign the patent. The reception included remarks from Senator Chris Coons (Delaware) emphasizing yesterday’s resolution on the importance of invention and innovation to the U.S. It seemed appropriate that the 10Mth patent was issued to a U.S. company (Raytheon) on technology focused on both commercial and military applications (a laser detection and ranging system).
In attendance were 200 invited guests including a number of Ocean Tomo friends and clients as well as key staff from the PTO and supporting non-government organizations.
