USPTO Announces 2013 Winners of its Inaugural Patents for Humanity Program

Innovation and invention are paramount to overcoming global challenges in health and quality of life. Last week marked an especially important milestone in the promotion of intellectual property (IP) for the betterment of mankind, as the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) announced the 10 winners of its Patents for Humanity pilot program during a ceremony on Capitol Hill.

Patents for Humanity - New USPTO Humanitarian Initiative

On Wednesday I watched as David Kappos announced the USPTO’s new humanitarian initiative – Patents for Humanity.

“Innovation is 99% about failure, which is expensive,” Kappos said. He’s completely right.

Yesterday I attended a most interesting meeting of the Licensing Executives Society Arab Countries Chapter held in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Higher Colleges of Technology. The meeting was held at one of Abu Dhabi's leading science centers, the CERT Technology Park.
