On December 7th, Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq: CY) announced that for the sixth consecutive year, it was named a constituent in the Ocean Tomo 300® Patent Index; the first equity index based on the value of corporate intellectual property. Ocean Tomo recognizes AUO’s inclusion across each of the six years that the Index has been published.
With $884 M in revenue (FY2010), and 3,500 employees, Cypress serves numerous markets, including consumer, mobile handsets, computation, data communications, automotive, industrial, and military. Established in 1982, the company has manufacturing operations in more than 10 countries around the world.

Cypress has been granted over 1,700 patents and has approximately 1,000 patents pending. The patents cover a wide variety of technologies, including PSoC(R) programmable system-on-chip, touch and capacitive sensing, USB, memories and optical navigation sensors.
“This is another important recognition of our decades long strategy to build and protect a strong IP position in our chosen markets,” said Brad Buss, executive vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Cypress. “Even as we have significantly reduced our cost structure within Cypress, we have chosen to continue to invest strongly in building our IP portfolio.”
