I just finished the last of four exciting breakfast discussions on Intellectual Property Strategy – Houston, Denver, St. Louis and the finale of this round in Chicago.
The purpose of the meetings was to share best practices, talk openly among intellectual property owners, attorneys, professionals and service providers, and set the agenda for the next stage of growth of intellectual property markets.
As intellectual property is now clearly becoming a Wall Street topic of discussion (Nortel/Google/AOL/Kodak/etc), it opens up incredible new opportunities. There remains a huge gap in understanding of strategic value of intellectual property in the marketplace.
Who will lead the way? Who will provide ratings, standards, market price discovery, risk management, transaction, and all the other services required for intellectual property to become a mature and permanent asset class, like other asset classes we know today? Exactly the people just like we had at our breakfast meetings!
The opportunity to propel intellectual property into permanent seat at Boards of leading companies is now, and how we play the game will determine the outcome for our clients and for all of us in the business.
Next: San Francisco, DC, NYC – and if your city has exciting things happening in the world of intellectual property, let us know and we will organize a discussion there too.
