As an active member of the Patent Litigation, Women in IP and Diversity in IP committees within AIPLA, I attended the AIPLA Mid-Winter Institute last month. During the meeting, the Patent Litigation Committee further developed plans in collaboration with the Amicus committee and Damages & Injunction Committee to offer a webinar and paper on early damages contentions in various venues. I will share further information about the webinar in another post. Our committee is also looking into future webinar subjects, including ITC domestic industry expert analysis in patent and trade secret investigation, an area that has seen a boost in cases over the last two years.
The Women in IP Committee hosted a talk by Felicia Davis, who spoke about Elevate: 3 Ways to Break Through Your Inner Glass Ceiling & Reclaim Your Power to Lead. Felicia discussed the prevalence of Imposter Syndrome, tips for breaking out of that type of thinking, and leading with success.
The Diversity in IP Committee regularly hosts the Fun Run, which offers a way to connect with old friends on an early Thursday morning run through the WildHorse Pass.
While all the sessions were informative, I particularly enjoyed the Thursday luncheon speaker, Nona Lee, EVP & Chief Legal Officer for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Her talk touched on the value of training and building a diverse workforce. A strong second favorite was the various Artificial Intelligence sessions discussing multiple new and emerging technologies
