Today the Ocean Tomo 300® Patent Index(OTPAT), the only index based on the value of corporate intellectual property, was reconstituted.
The Index is a diversified listing of the 300 companies that own the most valuable patent portfolios relative to the book value of the company. The Index provides a meaningful benchmark for the performance of companies in today’s intangible asset-driven economy.
As noted in our press release, I would like to acknowledge those companies who have contributed to the performance of the index all eight years. You can view the complete list of 54 companies here.
From its inception in January 2007 through October 28, 2013, the OT300 outperformed the S&P® 500 by 1,573 basis points. This performance record is auspicious and confirms the relevance of the OT300 as the natural benchmark for the U.S. economy.
