Kathy specializes in forensic accounting and litigation consulting services in cases involving accounting and auditing malpractice, financial damages, and insurance insolvencies, among others.
Kathy has extensive forensic accounting and litigation support experience in assisting counsel regarding auditing malpractice and auditor’s liability in matters related to failed property/casualty, life and health insurance companies. Kathy’s forensic accounting and litigation support experience includes review and analysis of audits and audit workpapers in the determination of accounting malpractice, evaluation of accounting and auditing issues, and analysis of financial statements to determine statutory compliance. Kathy has provided forensic accounting and litigation support services with regard to trial, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
Kathy has experience in assisting counsel through all phases of the litigation process, including discovery and document review, preparing for witness and expert depositions, preparing responses to interrogatories, preparing expert reports, rebutting opposing expert reports, drafting expert’s testimony, preparing slides and exhibits to be used at trial, and responding to other litigation requests from counsel.
Early in her career, Kathy spent nearly three years with EY (formerly Ernst & Young) providing auditing services to a wide array of business and industries. Kathy joined Ocean Tomo, a part of J. S. Held, after twenty years of providing similar forensic accounting and litigation consulting services at the accounting firm of Buttner Hammock & Company, P.A. in Jacksonville, Florida.
Kathy graduated magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting from the University of Central Florida in 1988.
