Robert McSorley is a Director in Ocean Tomo’s Expert Testimony practice, working out of the Chicago office. Mr. McSorley has more than 25 years of experience addressing the economic, financial, and accounting issues involved in commercial litigation. During his career, Mr. McSorley has been retained in matters concerning intellectual property disputes, accounting malpractice claims, breaches of contracts, fraud investigations, shareholder oppression claims, and commercial construction projects, among other types of litigation. Mr. McSorley has testified in deposition, at arbitration hearings, and in Federal District Courts around the Country, and courts have adopted his opinions and conclusions.

Mr. McSorley’s experience ranges across a wide array of industries including steel, automotive, industrial equipment, consumer products, food processing, pharmaceuticals, logistics and distribution, banking, insurance, and commercial real estate and construction, among others.

Mr. McSorley has been retained in connection with Hatch-Waxman Act matters involving patented technologies relating to pharmaceutical products. In connection with these cases, Mr. McSorley has evaluated financial and economic issues that shed light on the circumstances surrounding the origin of subject matters disclosed in U.S. patents. In addition, he has considered issues relating to the alleged irreparable harm from alleged infringement of U.S. patents. He has also studied other aspects of the U.S. pharmaceutical industry, including the profitability of the U.S. Fortune 500 pharmaceutical firms and the ability to finance and recover R&D costs.

Mr. McSorley holds a B.A. degree in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a licensed CPA and Attorney in several states. Mr. McSorley is also a member of the Licensing Executive Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
