Richard Lettiere is a Managing Director in the Intellectual Property Disputes Financial Expert Testimony practice, working out of the Chicago office of Ocean Tomo, a part of J.S. Held. Prior to joining Ocean Tomo, Mr. Lettiere was a Vice President in the Intellectual Property Practice of Charles River Associates, beginning in 1998. He has led numerous engagements in intellectual property and bankruptcy and solvency disputes and has performed valuations in a number of different areas, including patents, trademarks, and enterprise-level analyses. He also has considerable experience in financial and accounting matters through his work as a public accountant and on the finance staff of The Walt Disney Company and Morgan Stanley, among others.
Mr. Lettiere has supervised engagement teams in many types of intellectual property disputes, including patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation as well as breach of contract matters. He has managed assignments from discovery through trial, performed lost profits, reasonable royalty, price erosion, unjust enrichment, and other economic and financial analyses in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, automotive, agriculture, and medical products.
Mr. Lettiere has also provided assistance to clients engaged in both the licensing-in and licensing-out of technology. He has prepared valuations, researched comparable licenses, and recommended licensing structures. Additionally, Mr. Lettiere has conducted numerous valuations of intellectual property for transactional and tax-related purposes and is well-versed in appropriate valuation methodologies and approaches.
Mr. Lettiere holds a B.A. degree in Accounting from Adelphi University and an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson Graduate School of Management. He is also a CPA.
Mr. Lettiere is a member of the Licensing Executives Society International and an associate of the American Society of Appraisers.
